Super Mario World Spoof

Posted by Rudy Jun. 8, 2008 @ 2:38 PM EDT

Heyo, I've been pondering on whether or not to start animating again so I start on a nice little gem I'd like to call a Super Mario Spoof. I'm sure you're wondering on whether it'll be Sprites or Drawn -- Well, I'll sum it up now.. It's going to be created using Sprites. I apologize but this seems like the ONLY way to portray the story I want to be told based on the Super Mario World game for SNES.

The animation will have various jokes based off of a theme I'm set with. The reason why I started thinking of this was because I recently purchased Super Mario World on my Nintendo Wii, actually. It's a rather interesting game and the musical score inspired me to actually work on this animation. I'm yet again pushing off the Life of a Smiley Series -- Especially Episode 1 which I've mentioned in various past news posts.

To hold you guys over, Enjoy the screen shot below featuring the intro of the animation. If you have any questions or comments, leave them here. Maybe recommend things for the animation to include? That's be appreciated. Well, I should be going now.

Take care everyone.

THANKS FOR LINKING THE WIKIPEDIA PAGES FOR MARIO AND SNES, COS TOTALLY NOBODY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE.

Jun. 8, 2008 | 2:49 PM Rudy responds:

Some people may not know. You never know. I just felt like it was necessary -- But you're quite welcome.

Jun. 8, 2008 | 3:20 PM Madmanonfire says:

Looks awesome. Can't wait. Though that Luigi looks kinda blurry...

Jun. 8, 2008 | 11:37 PM Rudy responds:

Well, Luigi looks that way since I added him in using Photoshop elements and since I stretched the sprite of him, I suppose it made him a bit blurry. :( It won't look that way in the animation, believe me.

GAH NOT ANOTHER VIDEOGAME SPOOF. THIS IS SO GETTING AN UNDESERVES FRONTPAGE AND HIGH SCORE! why is newgrounds so UNFAIR!

Jun. 8, 2008 | 11:38 PM Rudy responds:

Newgrounds isn't quite unfair if the viewers enjoy it, Eddy.

Oh and by the way, Someone called you a n00b down there<3

Jun. 8, 2008 | 3:39 PM KIRBYLINK says:

Oh wow, a mario spoof! No one has EVER dpone that before. Especially with SPRITES.

Jun. 8, 2008 | 11:38 PM Rudy responds:

No one has ever made a comment about a Mario Spoof before criticizing it either! Hah, Someone said that down there VVV.

Anyways, It's just something for fun to get the ball rolling. Besides, it'll turn out good - I promise. And besides, you made a sprite animation involving Sonic the Hedgehog -- so you're really one to judge...

Sigh. Noobs leaving gay comments when their caps lock key is broken. Sigh again. This auctually looks pretty nice. I've yet to beat Super Paper Mario and havn't played it since it first came out. How exactly were you inspired by the music?

Jun. 8, 2008 | 11:41 PM Rudy responds:

Super Paper Mario was a pretty good game, I completed it within a week later from it's a release -- I'm hoping this will turn out nice, I'm trying to base the intro off of the actual ORIGINAL intro from the game.

And I was inspired by the music because I was listening to the instrumental score and I was thinking of actual LYRICS for the songs -- and this is how this animation rolled into play. It'll feature songs with lyrics on a specific theme. Oh my, Spoiler. ;)

lol, all oh, these people are sooo supportive, im sure it'll pwn man.
and luigi looks mega asian :P

Jun. 8, 2008 | 11:41 PM Rudy responds:

Haha, Luigi is a beautiful Asian. And besides, I think the ending outcome will be good.

Jun. 8, 2008 | 4:53 PM TJ111111 says:

there is alot of them but hey yours might be funny

Jun. 8, 2008 | 11:42 PM Rudy responds:

I think it'll be a bit humorous. Wish me luck though.

Jun. 8, 2008 | 5:19 PM Sispri says:

So we can safely say you're back, righ? lol turning to VG parodies are we?

Jun. 8, 2008 | 11:43 PM Rudy responds:

Hah, we can safetly say that Rudy is back in the building. And I've aways been a fan of Video Game parodies -- but never actually recreating a bit of a direct game like Super Mario World. I always made spoofs back in the beginning of my animation days, but that's about it. It's actually been a while since I experimented with Sprites. I guess it's time too.

Hopefully, it'll get a good score like Accidentally In Love Did.

Jun. 8, 2008 | 5:29 PM qstorm says:

Oh wow, a complaint about a mario spoof! No one has EVER dpone that before. Especially with CAPS.

Jun. 8, 2008 | 11:43 PM Rudy responds:

Haha. You're totally right. I love you, Qstorm.

Jun. 8, 2008 | 6:17 PM JonBro says:

Hey, cool. I actually just started working on a SMB3 parody... Yesterday, in fact.
I haven't done a sprite movie in a while, and I haven't submitted anything in a while, so yeah.

I don't know why everyone hates sprites so much. Sprites might be easier than drawn animation, but that doesn't mean all sprite movies have no effort put into them. Take Randy Solem and Psycosis91, for example. They put loads of work into many of their sprite movies, and it really shows, too.

Of course, you seemed to be apologizing in your post, so you may disagree with everything I just said. Oh well =)

Jun. 8, 2008 | 11:47 PM Rudy responds:

Oh what irony! That's really cool. We should collaborate on something in the near future. And I never ever had anything against sprites. I always enjoyed sprites. And people think people just cut out these guys from given sprite sheets and just throw this thing together but you're right -- alot more work is put into these things.

It's a type of animation and style. Sprites have always been in the field of animation -- It's just a way of style -- I've always enjoyed animating Sprites since after "Zelda: Behind the Scenes" I started getting into Sprites since animating FBF wasn't my thing -- I used to be really bad at it -- so I went into that field. Now that I have a tablet and I actually can draw with Mouse or Tablet and I understand Adobe Flash more.. It opens more possibilities in animating new story lines and styles.

I hope everything turns out with your animation. Maybe drop me a preview and I'll show you a bit of mine -- We could work off of one another and make our animations amazing. :)

"deciding whether to animate again"

dude you've been gone for what, 2 weeks? and go on MSN more >=D

Jun. 8, 2008 | 11:48 PM Rudy responds:

I've been gone for about three weeks from animating. I'm an over dramatic -- i know. And I haven't been on MSN for about three weeks as well. I'm sorry -- I'll sign on... rightttt... NOW.

Jun. 9, 2008 | 12:11 AM Lalo says:

can you all like, leave the harsh critisism aside and come with contructive critiques please? like, it makes me so sad to see people fighting and attacking with satire all over this pretty page. its like, sad you know.

Jun. 9, 2008 | 6:35 PM Rudy responds:

Very sad, indeed.

Jun. 9, 2008 | 10:45 AM fishhook says:

good luck!

looks promising!

Jun. 9, 2008 | 6:36 PM Rudy responds:

I think it'll turn out alright, we'll see though.

Jun. 9, 2008 | 10:52 AM BritishMoose says:

Jeez man, you can't decide whether you're coming or going. Next time don't bother with a front-page post about your 'leaving'. You're like a bowling ball man....thrown down the alley but you still come back for more, dawg.

:3

Jun. 9, 2008 | 6:36 PM Rudy responds:

Ahaha. That is like me. I shouldn't be so over dramatic -- I thought I was going to be away for a bit longer than I expected honestly -- Alot of things are looking up now though.

So that's why, Mr.Ruediger is back.

Jun. 9, 2008 | 11:15 AM Deku-Kid says:

Sweet. I'm always open for a nice VG sprite animation. Do make sure you clean the blurriness out though.

Jun. 9, 2008 | 6:37 PM Rudy responds:

Haha, Photoshop Elements was to blame for the blurriness -- It won't be that way in the animation ;)
